Learning objectives
The workshop aims to introduce students to the varied and lively practice of theater and dramaturgy in contexts of deprivation of freedom, in the dual meaning of writing experience (authored or collective, multilingual or translated) and performance (reading, staging, audiovisual experimentation) with a focus on the Hispanic and specifically Argentine context. The workshop will take place on a residential basis with one or more visits to the Bollate prison to approach some case studies and experiment with the necessary methodologies.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will be expected to demonstrate their ability to master the different tools and methodologies learned during the workshop as part of the collective realization of a staged reading project from a text translated from Spanish and adapted to the dual academic and prison context.

After a brief presentation of the lively contemporary Latin American theatrical nebula and a seminar commentary on some critical contributions, the workshop will focus on the theme of representations of closed spaces in Argentinean dramaturgy to offer students the opportunity to 'poner el cuerpo' through the dramatised reading of a short play by a Latin American prisoner. The experience can be shared with some inmates of the Bollate prison, thanks to a project already started in this penitentiary institution under the patronage of the University of Milan as part of the Non solo limiti campaign.
At the end of the workshop, the performance will be publicly presented both 'outside' and inside, in the University and in the prison.

Prerequisites for admission
Knowledge of Latin American scenarios or western contemporary theatre forms. Willingness to cooperate in a prison context also through performance activities.

Active participation in seminar debates, translation, revision and preparation of Italian edition with public reading of play with short final critical report (max. 3000 characters).
