Learning objectives
The course is included in the International Trade curriculum as practical activity, with a view to training students for job positions in public or private companies operating in foreign markets and/or markets regulated at a regional or international level. The course aims to provide students with the skills needed to apply alternative dispute resolutions (ADR) during the pathological stage of international trade relationships between private citizens.
Students will acquire a basic knowledge of such mechanisms and understand their advantages by analysing real-life cases, also with a view to carrying out further negotiations through the dedicated online platform (Online Dispute Resolution - ODR).
To this end, teaching methodologies will meet the need to provide both theoretical tools and practical applications of ADR techniques. Student's active participation to all the teaching activities is fundamental, so they can reach the expected learning outcomes.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should know and understand the basics of ADR/ODR techniques to be used in the frame of international trade disputes between natural or legal persons, being able to identify their peculiarities.
Through active participation in the learning activities proposed in the class, students may apply such knowledge to solve a real-life extrajudicial dispute.
The skills acquired will enable students to further their learning of ADR/ODR in their future studies, or to enter the job market with the knowledge base needed to support activities related to the management of the pathological stage of international trade relationships.
