Learning objectives
The final degree examination represents the conclusion of the M.A. course in European and Extraeuropean Languages and Literatures. It consists of an original essay, written under the guidance of a tutor, in one of the subjects included in the curriculum. The dissertation is thoroughly presented and discussed in front of a committee, usually formed by teachers of related matters, that assesses it and determines the M.A. final mark.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will be able to conduct an in-depth research on a subject agreed with his / her supervisor, producing a written dissertation of a considerable extension (100-250 pages), depending on the scope of the subject, on the methodology used, and according to every field conventions. The student will prove to have reached a significant degree of autonomy in the preparation of the paper and in the use of primary and secondary bibliography. Furthermore, he / she should expose the contents of the dissertation in a clear and precise manner, using the specific terminology of the field with full awareness. Discussing the paper in front of the committee, the student will be able to illustrate the characteristics of the work and the methodology he / she used, delivering a presentation both in a foreign language and in Italian, while interacting appropriately with the examiners.
