Learning objectives
Il laboratorio vuole offrire agli studenti alcuni spunti di riflessione sull'uso, potenzialità e limiti di alcuni 'data base' digitali utilizzati oggi nel campo della ricerca. Gli esempi, presi dal campo della storia della scienza, ben rappresentano alcuni problemi generali e comuni a questo tipo di strumento d'indagine. Lo studente operativamente incomincerà a prendere confidenza con questi 'data base', e sarà successivamente chiamato a esporre le difficoltà incontrate e le eventuali azioni migliorative necessarie al loro superamento. Questo lavoro costituirà un'importante integrazione delle competenze digitali dello studente. Un validò punto di partenza per un'eventuale sua partecipazione a futuri lavori in questo campo di studi.
Expected learning outcomes
This workshop helps students to build the following skills:
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
To critically analyze, discuss, and compare philosophical views.
To critically assess sources of information and the reliability of data.
Independent judgment:
To think through complex philosophical views.
To take a position on a certain philosophical issue and develop arguments in its favor.
To collect, correctly interpret, and appropriately use data to make independent, informed, and responsible judgments.
Communication skills:
To efficiently present the results of one's own research, and do so by using information technology when appropriate.
To dialogue in a constructive way with experts from other disciplines to identify and solve complex problems.
To disseminate knowledge and pass on acquired skills to non-specialized audiences.

To study in an independent way.
To independently and appropriately use sources and basic bibliographic/information tools for philosophical research and scientific updating.

Title: Digital Emersions. From War to Contemporary Art in Augmented Reality
- March 7th: What is technology doing to us? Methods and authors for a philosophical investigation of technology.
- March 14th: Archaeology of emergence: phantasmagoria, spirit photography, and contemporary forms of spatial augmentation.
- April 4th: War at a distance: creativity and new technologies of destruction.
- April 11th: Contemporary art and augmented reality.
- May 9th: Everyday superpowers and personal devices.
All meetings will take place from 10.30 AM to 14.30 PM.

Prerequisites for admission

Teaching methods
The meetings include a lecture part, a workshop part with the opportunity to try out some experiences in VR and AR, and a discussion part on the topics covered.
Teaching Resources
Learning materials will be made available at the beginning of the course and include PPT presentations for each meeting and relevant bibliographical references.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Assessment criteria:
- Autonomy of judgement;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Communication and expression skills, including the use of digital technology;
- Synthesis and writing skills;
- Autonomy in the use and verification of basic sources, bibliographic and computer tools for research and scientific updating.
Students are required to actively participate in all the meetings. Besides taking part in the debate, they will be assessed on the basis of a short paper about a topic discussed during the meetings.
