Learning objectives
The teaching workshop aims to provide knowledge of data visualisation tools for studying literary texts and other cultural objects, intellectual practices, relations, authors, and institutions. It also introduces the different fields of application of data visualisation.
Expected learning outcomes
Essential knowledge of method principles of data visualisation, data processing procedures, and main types of graphs and maps. Primal use of some specific software, production activities.

Course syllabus
- Introduction to visualization
- Use of spreadsheets for data cleaning and management (e.g., Google Spreadsheet)
- Use of software for generating visualizations (e.g., RAWGraphs, Gephi, KeplerGL/Qgis)
- Use of vector graphics software (e.g., Figma)
- Conduct of design exercises
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of English, as not all the software to be used is translated into Italian.
Equipment with a personal portable computer (MacOS or Windows), capable of installing the indicated software. Note: tablets are not suitable for the laboratory program, whether they run Android, iOS, or other operating systems.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The student's constant participation and the successful completion of assigned tasks are verified.
The Lab final evaluation is Approved or Not-approved.
