Learning objectives
This teaching workshop's objective is to give students a general overview of present communications and promotion procedures in Italy, with regards to music. After looking at how music is approached in a journalistic context, the duties and responsibilities most requested in the cultural and live performances sector will be assessed: marketing and promotion, communications, web and SEO, PED and social media management, art direction and graphic design, fundraising, national and European announcements, project management, and press office. For this purpose, excellent case studies will be evaluated, even with the direct involvement and discussion of professionals in the field.
Expected learning outcomes
Once the teaching workshop is concluded the students will have developed their awareness of the current marketing and promotion procedures in the music industry and will have gained theoretical expertise and techniques with regards to the duties analyzed. The students will moreover have broadened their network through direct involvement and discussion with professionals in the field. They will also get to know working venues where they could, one day, apply for internships to test their knowledge.

Course syllabus
The aim of the workshop is to define a general mapping of current practices in the communication and promotion of classical music in Italy, with particular attention to the different functions included in the communication and marketing area: marketing and promotion, institutional communication and PR, social media management, art direction and graphic design, fundraising, press office.
Prerequisites for admission
No prerequisites are required, however the most useful skills are those related to communication and media.

There will be several special guests for the presentation of case studies and specific professionalism.

Assessment methods and Criteria
At the end of the workshop there will be a written test.
