Learning objectives
The teaching workshop aims to give reinforce the training of students interested in the methods and problems of the research areas covered by the master degree programmes in Philology, Literature and History of Antiquity and in Modern Humanities. The teaching workshop will present the research of teachers from a wide range of disciplines, and will allow students to specialize in their chosen field of studies but also to understand the methods used in other disciplines.
Expected learning outcomes
The students will achieve:
a deeper understanding of the research methods in the fields covered by the two master degree programmes;
the ability to use the methodological and bibliographical tools developed in other fields of study;
the ability to distinguish between different ways of approaching the objects of scientific research.

Course syllabus
The teaching workshop will consist of 20 hours divided in 7 lessons of two hours each. Each lesson will be delivered by a different teacher who will present her/his research in her/his field of study, showing how it was carried out, what were the vicissitudes that characterized the analysis of the data, what were the tools used and the results achieved. During the lessons, will be discussed topics of history of literature and literary criticism, philology, linguistic, historical methodology.
At the end of the workshop, 3 lessons of two hours each will be dedicated to the students' presentations.
Prerequisites for admission
By its nature the teaching workshop is aimed at a small group of qualified students. Requests of inscription to the teaching workshop will be examined by the teachers in charge of the workshop and by those who will give lessons each year on the base of:

- a short presentation letter, which will include a brief description of the work the student has done for her/his dissertation and will explain the student's interest in the topics of the teaching workshop.
- The number of exams taken at the time of the application and the average of the marks obtained.
Teaching methods
Presentations of research topics and general discussion;
Students' work under a teacher's supervision;
Paper presentations.
Teaching Resources
Teachers will make available on the MyAriel website of the teaching workshop the files that students will have to prepare for the discussion.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Each students will prepare a short paper related to one of the research topics discussed during the workshop, with footnotes and a short bibliography, and she/he will give an oral presentation of about 15/20 minutes. The final evaluation is "Approved" or "Not-approved".
