Learning objectives
The aim of this teaching workshop is to provide basic methodological and critical knowledge for a didactic approach to the Italian contemporary authors, works and genres, with particular care for canon, curriculum, textbooks and setting of the school system.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will learn to orientate themselves in the Italian contemporary literature's canon in secondary school; to reflect on the possible teaching approaches about works, genres, authors and literary movements in Italian contemporary literature. Besides, they will learn a critical approach to the use and analysis of school textbooks.

Course syllabus
Basic critical nodes (curriculum and canon as in Indicazioni Nazionali; history of literature and literary genres; reading of narrative, poetry and essays ) and different approaches to teaching Italian 19th, 20th and 21st Century literature (thematic method and interdisciplinary teaching, workshops and new technologies).
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of the Italian contemporary literature (main authors, works, genres and literary movements) as well as fundamental text analysis and interpretation skills.
Teaching methods
Frontal instruction, socratic method, debate, individual and group work.
Teaching Resources
At the end of each lesson students will be provided with instructional material and biographical references.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Active participation and profitable carrying out of assigned works. The final evaluation is "Approved" or "Not-approved".
