Learning objectives
The workshop aims to introduce students to the role of acquisitions editor, which is to say the editor who, working inside a publishing house, deals with foreign markets to acquire translation rights for her own.
Expected learning outcomes
The ability to navigate deals, bookfairs and fellowships to find and secure the right titles in translation.

A small number of lessons dedicated to the more theoretical aspects of publishing will be followed by more pratical lessons, with some publishing professionals appearing as guests to explain their role.

Teaching methods
Frontal teaching with some publishing professionals appearing as guests to explain their role. There will be practical activities (either individual or in groups) like preparing a reader's report or a mock offer (or best offer).
Teaching Resources
News items and long-forms from Publishers Weekly, The Bookseller and Library Journal; examples of reader's reports and rights lists; samples of novels both in Italian and in English.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Student engagement will be constantly monitored, both during the frontal lessons and during the activities. The workshop final evaluation is "Approved" or "Not-approved".
