Infectious Diseases (clinical skills)
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
° Infectious disease history: Acquisition of the ability to investigate recent travel, exposure to vectors, risky behaviors, vaccination history, and previous antibiotic use.
· General physical examination: Assessment and interpretation of vital signs: blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, arterial oxygen saturation; auscultation of the chest and heart; clinical examination of abdomen and hypochondriac organs.
· Targeted physical examination: Recognition of signs of sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, hepatitis, and rashes.
· Hospitalized patient management: Participation in medical examinations on the ward.
Interpretation of tests: Laboratory analyses (complete blood count, inflammatory markers). Knowledge of the main specialized diagnostic tools for infectious diseases (microbiological, serological, and instrumental tests, as well as the main diagnostic pictures).
Participation in procedures: Assistance or observation of procedures such as lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
