Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with a general understanding of professional responsibility and healthcare organization, in relation to the historical, regulatory, and organizational developments of the Italian healthcare system. The objective of the course is for participants to acquire knowledge and understanding of healthcare transformations and the challenges related to managing healthcare facilities, clinical governance, and the integration of territorial networks. Particular attention is given to recent reforms and digital transformation, with a focus on the value-based approach (Value-Based Health Care) and the promotion of efficiency and quality in the healthcare system. The course enables students to understand organizational models and healthcare policies applicable in both public and private contexts; these skills will be useful in promoting mental and physical health, optimizing integrated care, and participating in decision-making and communication processes within multidisciplinary teams.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be expected to demonstrate:

Knowledge and Understanding: Students should be familiar with the history and evolution of the Italian healthcare system and understand the organizational models of Local Health Authorities and Hospitals. They should comprehend the concepts of clinical governance, care networks, and integration with the community, with particular attention to clinical pathways. They will gain a deep understanding of the most recent healthcare reforms and the digital transformation within the healthcare system. Students should also understand the concept of Value Based Health Care and its application in organizing and evaluating healthcare services.

Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding: Students should be able to critically analyze organizational models and governance structures applied to healthcare institutions. They should apply the acquired knowledge to understand and assess decision-making processes and clinical pathways, and to promote the integration of healthcare networks. Students should be able to interpret the implications of digital transformation within the healthcare context, with a particular focus on the use of technologies to improve the effectiveness of care processes.

Autonomy in Judgement: Students should be capable of forming independent judgments regarding organizational strategies and healthcare governance models, assessing the effectiveness of clinical pathways and care networks. They should develop critical thinking in analyzing healthcare policies and ongoing reforms, identifying their implications for the management of healthcare delivery.

Communication Skills: Students should be able to effectively communicate with colleagues and healthcare professionals from different disciplines, clearly presenting organizational dynamics and governance models. They should actively participate in discussions on healthcare organization and transformation, demonstrating the ability to summarize and present ideas clearly.

Learning Skills: Students should develop the ability to independently learn about the evolving healthcare sector and continuously stay updated on developments in clinical governance and healthcare reforms. They should critically reflect on the topics covered, linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications in healthcare organization.

These learning outcomes align with the functions and professional prospects of graduates in Psicologia in Sanità, as they contribute to developing competencies in promoting integrated interventions, managing organizational dynamics, and supporting communication and decision-making in complex healthcare settings.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The actual achievement of the expected learning outcomes by the student is achieved and verified through a written test with closed answers, consisting of 15 questions, lasting 30 minutes. The evaluation parameters consist in the verification of the acquisition of knowledge of the topics inherent to the cycle of lessons. The evaluation is expressed in thirtieths. The test that contributes to the final evaluation is unique; therefore, intermediate tests or pre-calls are not foreseen. During the test, the use of aids such as dictionaries, glossaries, manuals, etc. is not foreseen. The results of the test are communicated via the UniMi portal.
