Analysis of the legal-political themes present in Sophocles' tragedy (442 BC) and in Jean Anouilh's famous version (1944).
The list of contemporary rewritings of the Antigone myth that will be discussed during the meetings will be made available by the end of October 2025
Prerequisites for admission
Advanced knowledge of the French language (level B2/C1). Interested students must send an email, with proof of their language level, to [email protected] by 31 December 2025. Only the first 20 students with the required language prerequisites will be admitted to the workshop.
Teaching methods
The workshop, entirely in French, includes the analysis of the legal-political themes present in Sophocles' tragedy and in Jean Anouilh's famous version (1944). Participants will be asked to present in French one or more texts presenting the figure of Antigone in the contemporary world.

The complete bibliography of works will be made available by the end of October 2025 on the workshop website on the MyAriel platform.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The 20-hour workshop, entirely in French, will be held in the third quarter of the academic year 2025/26 (April-June 2026). The schedule of the 10 meetings will be made available by the end of 2025.
Participants will be required to attend at least 80% of the meetings and a final presentation in French. Participation in the workshop will be assessed with a grade (positive/negative). The workshop grants 3 CFUs as 'further training activities'.
