Physical Geography and Land Use Planning
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the student with the foundations for a correct physical geographic analysis of the landscape that lays the foundations for the subsequent geomorphological analyses that will be proposed in subsequent courses (in the second year of the master degree). We will analyse the forms of the landscape, their genesis and evolution as a function of both natural and anthropogenic forcing factors. Methods and techniques used for the geomorphological survey and the production of thematic cartography will be critically addressed. Learning aims to bring the student to a knowledge of the topics that allows him/her to understand the implications in their subsequent application in management and planning terms.
Expected learning outcomes
- basic knowledge of methodologies for describing physical landscape forms and the production of thematic mapping that describes them;
- basic understanding of theoretical aspects supporting land use planning and resource use
- Acquisition of a basic ability to understand and manage physical geography and geomorphological data functional to the application of land use planning tools;
- improvement of the ability to read geomorphological and physical geography technical reports and to present their results
- the student acquires basic skills in understanding physical geography tools to support resource management and environmental planning.
