GEO/03
Language

Learning objectives
Using the results from structural analysis, supplemented by stratigraphical, petrological, geochronological, geochemical, and geophysical data, to discuss the geologic evolution recorded in rocks exposed in collisional belts.
Reconstruction of the tectonic evolution, at the regional scale, within orogens, with examples from the Alps and Apennines, and comparison with models on tectonic processes of lithospheric active margins.
Synthesis of regional data and field comparison with the structure of tectonic units from different crustal levels, aimed at a critical discussion of the geological models from the literature.
Correlation throughout time and 3D space of geological processes developed during specific geodynamic events.
Expected learning outcomes
Synthesising various data to reconstruct the geodynamic evolution, at regional scale, of tectonic units preserved within orogen belts. Presenting written and oral reports on data collected during field trips to be compared with various type of data from the literature.
