Learning objectives
This course aims to provide students with comprehension skills with regard to oral and written texts, and communication skills for everyday situations, in line with the objectives of the degree programme. Students are expected to develop their communication skills in Russian at B1+ level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Students will analyse the morphosyntactic and sentence structures of Russian and enrich their vocabulary (as specified in the detailed programme), increasing their ability to assess if the language adopted in formal and semi-formal contexts is grammatically correct. They will also improve their ability to understand expressions used both in everyday situations as well as in the tourism and business sectors.

Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the third year, students will have systematically acquired the morphosyntactic structures of the Russian language at an advanced level (numbers, participles, gerunds, verbal morphology). They will also have acquired a basic knowledge of clause syntax and expanded their vocabulary in the tourism and business sectors.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and translate complex texts, both orally and writing, and to talk to Russian native speakers about different topics.

Expressing quantity (cardinal, ordinal, and collective numerals)
Expressing temporary qualities (short-form adjectives)
Negative and indefinite pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs
The verb:
Verbal derivation - vocabulary and morphology (verbs говорить, писать, читать)
Verbs of motion with prefixes, transitive and intransitive (consolidation and in-depth study)

Non-finite verb forms: active and passive participles, present and past, gerunds of imperfective and perfective verbs

The sentence and its elements: main and secondary constituents
Sentence syntax. Understanding the various types of subordinate clauses
Students will further develop the ability to learn and use appropriate expressions in various communicative situations, including linguistic structures and vocabulary related to Russian culture and civilization topics such as contemporary society, art, literature, music, and Russian history.
Module IV: Linguistic and cultural mediation
This module, held in the second semester, will strengthen both written and oral mediation skills, applied to the knowledge acquired throughout the three-year program. It will focus on the contrastive approach, key cultural components relevant to the mediation process, and aspects of intercultural pragmatics.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists of a written and an oral component.
The written exam is a prerequisite for the oral exam.
The written exam will include lexical-grammatical exercises, sentence translation from Italian into Russian and from Russian into Italian, reading comprehension, and the production of a short text.
Attending students will have the opportunity to split the written exam into two midterm tests, scheduled at the end of the first and second semesters, respectively.
Students who pass both midterm tests may proceed directly to the oral exam.
Those who fail either of the two tests must take the written exam during the official sessions (May, September, and January).
The oral exam will consist of an interview during which the topics covered in the official course will be discussed. It will assess students' understanding of theoretical content related to morphology, vocabulary, and mediation skills.
General language skills, listening, and oral production—covered in the language practice sessions—will be continuously assessed throughout the year by native-speaking instructors (for attending students) and during the oral part of the final exam.
The final grade, out of thirty, will also take into account the independent work carried out during the year on the course's MyAriel platform.
Native-speaking students must take the written exam. For the oral exam, in addition to knowledge of the basic course content, they must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the following chapters from the book Valgina N.S., Sovremennyi russkii iazyk:
sections 330, 335-337, 339, 342-345.
