Teaching Workshop: the Comics Medium: Narrative, Formal and Aesthetic Aspects

This activity aims to provide participants with the tools to understand and analyse the aesthetic and narrative strategies employed in comics, particularly in the form of adaptations of literary works. In addition to acquiring knowledge of the academic research into comics, participants will engage in analytical excersises and creative tasks to gain a deeper understanding of the medium-specific nuts and bolts of comic art.

After completing the activity, participants will have acquired a basic knowledge of the academic field of comics studies and mastery of its specific terminology. They will have developed the analytical skills necessary for a critical study of comics, particularly of adaptations based on literary texts, and will have experimented with the creative processes of comic art through practical exercises.
