Teaching Workshop: Dante Pop. for a New Didactics of Dante
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
How can Dante be taught to the new generations today? Is his poetry still relevant today? The fervour of studies and research, particularly fruitful on the occasion of the seventh centenary of his death but in fact never interrupted, imposes a positive answer. There has always been a popular Dante as intriguing as he is important for his fortune, a Dante who as a poet and as a man has penetrated the collective imagination. Just as some of his famous characters, from Paolo and Francesca to Beatrice, Ulysses and Count Ugolino have penetrated into visual art, music, comics, theatre, cinema and video games.
The workshop aims at investigating Dante's popular fortune - which was already present in the 14th century - with particular attention to the latest contemporary physiognomies. In addition to reading, watching and listening to well-known documents, the students will be called upon to search the web for lesser-known novelties. At the end of the course, individually or in groups they will make a micro-presentation or micro-lesson of their research, which is also valid for the workshop assessment.
