Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge of all those elements that constitute the essential starting point of the activities to enhance the cultural, landscape and territorial heritage. The elements at stake, the resources and actors involved, the variety of use policies and the various tourist practices put in place will then be examined. The ultimate goal of the course is to provide some geographic, technical and managerial skills useful for the strategic management of cultural heritage and organizations as well as for the implementation of projects for the enhancement and conservation of cultural and territorial heritage.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that have achieved useful skills to understand the cultural and territorial processes that characterize the places and to read the paths of enhancement that manifest themselves in specific material, patrimonial, symbolic and landscape forms.

Course syllabus
The course is structured into 3 teaching units, each corresponding to 3 ECTS credits and 24 hours of lessons. Specifically: Teaching Unit A focuses on understanding the effects of human activity on the territory from a heritage perspective and in its material and immaterial dimensions; Teaching Unit B aims to provide methodological and interpretative tools for the broad theme of tourism, cultural heritage, and the related economic and commercial impact, balancing preservation, enhancement, accessibility, and sustainability; Teaching Unit C aims to present the main policies and strategies for the enhancement of cultural and territorial heritage through completed or ongoing examples, the discussion and direct experience of selected case studies, and possible educational field trips.
Prerequisites for admission
Students interested in the course in Valorizzazione del Patrimonio Culturale e Territoriale must have previously passed at least two exams in the field of geography (human, urban, tourism, regional geography, etc.) or in related disciplines (cultural heritage legislation, territorial marketing, urban planning, urban sociology, etc.). If this prerequisite is not met, students must agree on an additional program with the relevant instructors.
Teaching methods
Lectures to prioritize the logical-conceptual learning channel; participatory lessons supported by videos, images, photographs, cartographic and paracartographic representations to strengthen the visual and iconographic learning channel; dialogic lessons conducted by the professor and experts on specific topics; workshops and field trips to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired.

ATTENDING students must prepare the Teaching Unit A using the following text:

Attending students must also demonstrate knowledge of the lectures, slides, and documents made available by the professor on the university's Ariel teaching platform.

For Teaching Unit B, ATTENDING students must demonstrate knowledge of the lectures, slides, and documents made available by the instructors on the Ariel platform and choose one text from the following list:

For the Teaching Unit C, ATTENDING students will present group work as the result of workshop and field activities. Further information on these activities will be provided during the course.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The assessment of learning takes place through an oral examination and will consist in verifying the knowledge acquired during the course lectures, the bibliography indicated for attending students, the laboratory work, and the field trips. For non-attending students, the oral examination will verify the knowledge acquired through the reading of the proposed texts. Students will be asked a series of questions aimed at evaluating their understanding of the fundamental concepts of the discipline, the methods and sources used, also through concrete examples and case studies. For the evaluation, expressed in thirtieths, the teacher will take into account the use of appropriate terminology and command of the specific vocabulary, the knowledge of the sources and methods presented and their possible applications, the ability to argue, to master the topics, and to exercise critical judgment.
