Parte C (20 ore - 3 cfu): Why so few femal scenographer?

Prerequisites for admission
A solid knowledge of the general timeline of modern and contemporary theater history and the main phenomena of Italian and European literature and culture is required.
The course is aimed at students of Cultural Heritage Studies and other bachelor's degrees, where the subject is included in the individual curricula. For those who have never had the chance to study or take an interest in the subject, it is strongly recommended to start reading the textbook before the course begins.
NOTE: The course is reserved for students whose last names start with a letter in the O-Z range.
A lab to take as a course supplement will be suggested.

Teaching methods
The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge about the main topics related to the history of theater, its research tools, and their application in different areas (playwriting, performance, directing, set design). The lessons are designed to develop analytical and critical skills in terms of analyzing dramatic texts, theater iconography, set design, acting techniques, and, more generally, theater as a performance. Participation in extracurricular events (theater shows, conferences, meetings with artists) suggested during lessons is required, as they naturally complement the course. The lessons will include the screening of materials selected by the instructor (show excerpts, films, documentaries) from non-online archives, which is why attendance is highly recommended. Watching shows in the Milan area (the number of which will be decided by the teacher) is considered mandatory, as well as the focus sessions on specific aspects of the show organized by the teacher whenever possible, during class hours themselves (February-May 2027). These meetings and focus sessions contribute to defining the Program C, and the schedule will be provided by the teacher in class or on the specific teaching platforms. For the 3-credit option only, students will also need to add Concetta D'Angeli's book "Forme della drammaturgia" (ETS) to the bibliography of Section A.
