Course objectives

As set forth in Ministry of Health Decree no. 740 (14 September 1994, as subsequently amended), an obstetrician is a healthcare professional who attends to, and advises, women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the post-partum period, delivers babies in natural childbirth, and provides care to the new-born child, and in gynaecology. Obstetric care to the woman, and during the reproductive process, requires all of the following: technical skills, preventative action, treatment plans, palliative and rehabilitative care, as well as a proper bedside manner and the ability to provide patient education.

Career and employment

Obstetrics perform their professional activities in public or private clinics and hospitals, either as an employee or as a freelance professional; they contribute to their own professional development, as well as that of their support staff, provide continuing education, and work on research.

Entry requirements

L'accesso al Corso è programmato a livello nazionale ai sensi della Legge n. 264 del 2.8.1999. Per essere ammessi al corso di laurea occorre essere in possesso di un diploma di scuola secondaria superiore o di altro titolo di studio conseguito all?estero, riconosciuto idoneo.
Il numero degli studenti ammissibili è definito annualmente con Decreto del Ministero della Università e della Ricerca (MUR), tenendo conto della rilevazione effettuata dallo stesso Ateneo in ordine alle risorse ed alle strutture didattiche e cliniche disponibili, nonché tenendo conto delle esigenze manifestate dalla regione Lombardia e dal Ministero della Salute in ordine al fabbisogno di personale sanitario del profilo professionale di riferimento della Classe.
I candidati, al momento della pre-iscrizione, dovranno segnalare, in ordine di preferenza, le Sezioni di Corso (Milano o Mantova) alle quali vorrebbero essere preferibilmente assegnati: si terrà conto in tal senso dell?ordine di graduatoria in cui si sarà collocato lo studente nella prova di ammissione.
La prova di ammissione si svolge secondo disposizioni e programmi predisposti annualmente dal MUR.
La prova si svolgerà presumibilmente nel mese di settembre. La data sarà stabilita con apposito Decreto da parte del MUR.

Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi (OFA)
Agli studenti che al test di ammissione non hanno fornito almeno il 50% delle risposte corrette nelle domande rivolte alla conoscenza della Biologia e della Chimica, saranno assegnati obblighi formativi aggiuntivi (OFA). Tali obblighi potranno essere colmati mediante attività di recupero appositamente previste. Il mancato superamento dell?OFA non permetterà di sostenere l'esame di: Le basi del percorso vitale.

Study abroad

The Bachelor's Degree programme in Midwifery provides students, in Year III, with the possibility of an international internship or traineeship, which will include pre-professional experience, and the opportunity to write their thesis.
Currently, the Universities of Brussels and Antwerp have been identified as our European partners.

Course attendance

La frequenza alle attività didattiche è da considerarsi obbligatoria per tutte le attività didattiche.
I CCI hanno la libertà di attribuire con motivazione esplicita la firma di frequenza fino ad un numero di assenze non superiore al 25% del tempo previsto.
Il Direttore delle attività professionalizzanti può attribuire la firma di frequenza al tirocinio clinico solo quando questa copre il 100% del tempo previsto dal programma.
