Lead instructor: Laura Biondi
The course aims to address the topic of color, and to make different methodological and disciplinary perspectives - such as anthropology, linguistics, literature, art, to which proff. Allovio, Biondi, Castelli, Gioseffi, Marconi, Slavazzi refer - dialogue and interact. The suggestions they intend to offer deal with the categorization of the chromatic 'continuum', proposed with refence to its relationship both with the different anthropological-cultural models and with the multiple ways of the linguistic coding of that 'continuum' in the Indoeuropean languages. Particular attention will be given to Greek and Latin world, whose literary and rhetorical tradition and whose archaeological evidences will offer a further opportunity of thinking to color's role both within the symbolic system and within the artistic values of those civilizations.
