The course consists of some separate case studies ranging from late classical Greece to Roman imperial age, focussing on individual issues and authors of the complex history of ancient technology. The aim of the course is to emphasize the "human/humanistic factor", that is the cultural and social aspect of artifacts, technical writings and their authors; as well as try to reconstruct some steps the ancient discourse about technicians and technologies that cannot be separated from technology itself.
