In line with the objectives of the CRC AltreScene, the course aims to identify some theatrical experiences that appear particularly significant in the conteemporary panorama and that allow for the development of an overall reflection on the international network of theatrical cultures in Milan. The translation, circulation and scenic transformation of non-Italian repertoire or at the hands of foreign artists in Milan's theaters is on both a historical and synchronic level an exemplary phenomenon, of prime interest for recognizing the fundamental mediating role that the city has for Italy and, rebounding, for Europe and the world, and for broadening the necessarily interdisciplinary, multilingual and transcultural gaze to the global interweaving of contemporary practices. The seminar will take place in conjunction with the second edition of the international festival organized by Piccolo Teatro di Milano scheduled for May 2024.
