Through the most up-to-date historical-critical methodology, the course aims to present students with some examples and reflections on the presence of photography in 20th century art and its role as a tool for the documentation and interpretation of the other arts. The course will present the work of some photographers as well as artists who have used the photographic medium, and will also deal with some topics related to montage, syntactic experimentation (also in relation to text) and the presence of photography in books. During the course a few meetings will be held with authors and external experts, including the curators of the archives of the photographers Ugo Mulas, Giovanni Ricci and Enrico Cattaneo.
