Knowledge on the physiopathological role of steroid hormones, synthetic steroids and neurosteroids will be provided. Particular relevance will be given to endocrine vs paracrine effects, sex dimorphism, gut-brain axis, diet and enviromental influences as well as metabolic disorders. Animal models and methodological approaches will be discussed.
