The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of applied electrochemistry, with particular emphasis on their relevance to contemporary industrial technologies in both organic synthesis and environmental protection. These two domains are inherently interconnected, as sustainable environmental management requires the implementation of low-impact processes in accordance with the principles of green chemistry. Electrochemistry constitutes a particularly suitable approach, owing to its limited consumption of chemical reagents and its reliance on electrical energy, especially when derived from renewable sources. The program will also examine corrosion phenomena, a critical factor in the release of pollutants into the environment, and will devote significant attention to electrochemical methods for environmental remediation, with a focus on strategies for reducing contaminant concentrations in wastewater.
