The course aims to reflect, from a multi-trans-interdisciplinary perspective, on how law can contribute to ensuring effective protection of ecosystems and sustainable development. The first lesson will be dedicated to a scientific presentation of the causes and effects of climate change. We will then analyse the most innovative philosophical and theoretical proposals aimed at greater legal protection of the environment. We will explore the contributions of religious reflection to the environmental problem. Finally, we will examine the potential and limitations of more traditional legal instruments, with special regard to environmental criminal law.
