High-Throughput & Omics: Introduction, Principles, Applications

A modular theoretical course that introduces the main omics and high-throughput data generation techniques currently used in biological research. The course will enable students to acquire a basic understanding of these approaches and their applications, and to select the most suitable tool(s) for their research based on the specific scientific question. Furthermore, the technological platforms in UNIMI and the Department of Biosciences that provide "omics" research services will be presented. As a non-exhaustive example, rudiments of genomics, transcriptomics, standard and spatial proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics will be introduced.
