Lead instructor: Monica Ferraroni
An object rotating in three-dimensional space often exhibits surprising—and sometimes paradoxical—properties. The aim of the course is to understand the mathematics underlying these phenomena, which have a wide range of applications: from robotics to rehabilitation, from artificial organs to ophthalmology and movement sciences. The applications will include the construction of simple paper models using origami techniques, in order to visualize and better understand reasoning in 3D spaces.
