Learning objectives
The course aims to achive the basic concepts in elementary geometry from an advanced standpoint. The course aims to enable students to develop communication, reasoning and application skills to other disciplines and the real world. Students are involved in communication, problem- posing and problem- solving activities.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will be able to manipulate geometric figures and concepts and to explore their properties in a semi-autonomous way.

Contents
The language of mathematics: basics of logic and set theory.
The foundations of Geometry: Euclid's Elements, Books I-IV.
Ruler and compass constructions.
The real Cartesian plane.

Activities
Exploring shapes and their properties; Geometrical reasoning to solve problems and find new relationships; Misunderstandings and difficulties; What is wrong with this proof?; Communicating mathematical reasoning.
