Il corso mira ad avvicinare gli studenti alla lingua, alla cultura e alla produzione letteraria delle popolazioni germaniche antiche. Alla fine del corso gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di applicare concretamente le nozioni teoriche di linguistica storica su singoli termini attestati per ricostruirne le fasi precedenti e compararli con i corrispondenti esiti nelle altre lingue germaniche
