Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to provide basic information on the organization of higher plants, focusing on the characteristics of plant cells and how these are organized to form tissues and organs. Also the course deals in detail with the strategies of angiosperm reproduction. The course traces the evolutionary steps that led plant body organization from "thallus to corm". Furthermore, the ontogenetic cycles of land plants are discussed in detail and a few from Algae. Some lessons provide in-depth discussion of topics related to plant biology such as, for example, biotechnology, domestication, photosynthesis and environmental botany
