Learning objectives
The course aims to illustrate the principles of epidemiology and etiopathogenesis of carious pathology starting from the microbiological aspects and the modalities of disease transmission.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able to know the principles of epidemiology and the modalities of disease transmission, correlating them with the principles of dental decays etiopathogenesis.

TEACHING METHODS
The lessons will be held on an IT (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) platform and can be followed both in synchrony on the basis of the established time, and asynchronously because they will be recorded and left available to students on the same platform. Supplementary didactic materials (audiolectures, video, slides, ..) will be upload on the Ariel Website of the course. It will be possible to modify the activities planned online with the possible replacement of some lessons in presence if the regulations and provisions regarding the COVID emergency allow it. Relevant communication will be reported on the notice board of the Ariel teaching site. Students are therefore encouraged to check the Ariel website regularly.

LEARNING ASSESSMENT
The exam will be held orally using the Microsoft Teams platform or, in presence in written and oral form if the regulations and provisions regarding the COVID emergency allow it.
Prerequisites for admission
Preliminary knowledge of the concepts of general microbiology and of head and neck anatomy is required.
