Learning objectives
The course is designed to complete the student's education through an analysis of the context variables, knowledge of which is essential basis for further professional development. It refers in particular to ethical issues, medical-legal, organizational, economic and related safety in the workplace, without neglecting the consideration of the historical evolution of orthoptic and ophthalmology, something that allows professionals in training to develop a professional identity. The course contributes to the achievement of the following goals set out in the manifest of the studies:
· Knowledge of the principles and standards that define the scope of its activities and responsibilities of the orthoptist;
· Knowledge of the principles of bioethics, ethical, legal and medical legal profession;
· knowledge of the fundamentals, evolution and characteristics of theory and conceptual models of care and rehabilitation.

Expected learning outcomes
Students: (i) have a good knowledge of the evolution of thought, techniques and instrumentation conceived and used in Medicine and Surgery, important for understanding the birth and evolution of Orthoptics and Ophthalmology; (ii) will know the general principles of the Italian judicial system, the foundations of professional responsibility, the duties of professionals and their role in risk management, the laws on protection of personal data and privacy; (iii) will describe challenges and scenarios of the italian health care sector and the implications in health trusts management; (iv) know the foundations of planning and operational mechanisms as applied to health care organizations; (v) know the foundations of imaging techniques in medicine, the utilization of radiations, the principal norms and regulations in radioprotection according to the European legislation; (vi) know the organization of occupational medicine in the National Health Service and its legislation, and the concepts of occupational disease, work-related illness, work accident; chemical-physical, biological and psycho-social risk factors; (vii) will know the foundations of the organization and functioning of the Italian national health service.

The lessons will be perfomed on-line through the Microsoft teams platform and they will be available both (sychronous and asychronous) at the same time based on the first trimester timetable. They will be registred and available on the Microsoft teams platform.
Prerequisites for admission
No prior knoweldge needed.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Multiple choice tests and short open-ended questions. The test of the single module is considered passed if the number of correct answers is equal to 50% of the possible correct answers. The score is attributed on the basis of the number of correct answers provided in all modules, on a proportional basis. Up to a maximum of three modules can be recovered.
