Learning objectives
‒ To identify and manage the most frequent medical and surgical clinical emergencies.
‒ To evaluate a patient's clinical status and stratify the risk of clinical deterioration.
‒ To know the current guidelines for the management and rescue of the vital functions, applying the appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms.

To describe, for each of the most frequent medical and surgical emergencies (see the following Modules for details)
‒ Pathophysiological mechanisms, etiologies and clinical picture
‒ Differential diagnosis and diagnostic workup
‒ Vital functions monitoring techniques
‒ Principles of treatment and therapeutic algorithms
