Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to consolidate writing competences in respect to argumentative texts. The course is focused on the production of formal texts (for example professional texts); on the logical and semantic connections between sentences; on the appropriate lexicon in a specific context; on the capability to select and to expose appropriately a thesis; finally, on the capability to communicate efficaciously. Such autonomous capabilities of the students will be developed and tested with practical exercises and writing papers.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop the students should have acquired an informed applied knowledge of Italian language, more specifically in respect to: competent use of textual cohesives of a written or oral argumentative text; appropriate language style in different communicative situations; capability to write a brilliant formal, informal, popular or academic text.

Attendance at the laboratory is compulsory. Each edition is open to a limited number of students. During the academic year, several workshops will be organized.

Course syllabus
Topics addressed during the course:
- spelling, grammar and syntax errors.
- the text and its requirements: coherence and cohesion.
- punctuation: functions, uses and abuse of punctuation marks.
-the choice of words.
- the organization of the text into paragraphs and paragraphs.
- the drafting of the text: characteristics, structure, composition strategies.
- language and style.
-The summary, the synthesis, the paraphrase, the quotation.
- informative and argumentative texts.
- the bibliography.
Prerequisites for admission
Knowledge of the Italian language at the level of secondary school of the Italian school system or similar. ERASMUS students must have a knowledge of the Italian language certified by organizations recognized by the MIUR of at least B2 level.
Teaching methods
Attendance at the laboratory is mandatory.
Each edition is open to a limited number of students. More workshops will be organized over the course of the academic year.
Non-attending students must contact the teacher to agree on how to replace the face-to-face lessons and the reference bibliography, well in advance of the exam. There will be theoretical lectures, exercises in the classroom and at home, and a personal and individual study.

Assessment methods and Criteria
For students attending the exam (3 CFU) consists in the preparation of an argumentative text, using what has been learned and consolidated during the laboratory. The exam does not give rise to a mark but to an approved / unapproved judgment
