Learning objectives
Know the basic concepts and fields of action of hygiene and preventive medicine.
Be acquainted with the basic standards for preserving and promoting the health of both the individual and the community.
Be familiar with the principles of prevention and control of community and healthcare-associated infections.
Know the standards and practices for maintaining and promoting health in the workplace.
Acquire the ability to participate in the identification of the needs of individuals and community.
Know the methods of health education.
Know the methodologies and techniques for information and health education to individual, family and community thus contributing to nursing needs' satisfaction
Know the techniques of prevention and control of infections in nurse clinical practice.

Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- illustrate the essential contents of the legislation on health protection and safety in the workplace related to health activities;
- know and understand the hygienic-preventive sciences regarding health determinants, risk factors, individual and community preventive strategies, interventions aimed at promoting the safety of healthcare workers and patients.
