Teaching Workshop: Organizing Film Festival and Theme Screenings
A.Y. 2021/2022
Learning objectives
The workshop aims to provide students with cultural politics, methods, and practices concerning the organization and management of events in the field of cinema. Each international festival possesses its own identity, which will be discussed in the first part of the workshop, comparing Cannes format with Locarno, Venice, Toronto and Turin. Besides the understanding of the principles of programming, the workshop will aim to raise awareness of the professional roles implied in those events, and in particular the artistic direction and the selection committee. The last part of the workshop, in which students will work in groups, will deal with the role of communication in the event construction, from the graphic identity to the promotional writings.
