Learning objectives
The aims of the course are:
- to describe diseases and traumatic injuries more frequently due to disability of the musculoskeletal system and of the central and peripheral nervous system;
- to indicate the main clinical characteristics for these diseases and injuries;
- to correlate these diseases with the consequent disability;
- to indicate the principles of treatment and describe the rehabilitation treatments that can be used to treat them;
- to list and describe the principles of use of the main imaging means with particular attention to their use in the diagnosis of traumatic diseases and injuries of the locomotor and nervous systems;
- to comply with the regulations in force in the field of Radiation Protection.
Expected learning outcomes
The students will be able to. a) depict the causes, the clinical picture, the diagnostics examinations, and the therapeutic strategies finalized to a correct diagnosis and treatment of the principal musculoskeletal pathologies; b) understand and use the specific terminology used in the diagnosis of trauma and in the descriptions of the surgical procedures used in orthopaedics; c) evaluate the disability due to these pathologies and suggest a rehabilitative approach.
The Student will be able to describe: a) the fundamental signs and symptoms of rheumatic diseases; b) the anamnestic data and objective elements suggestive of rheumatic diseases; c) the results of laboratory and radiological investigations useful for the diagnosis of rheumatic diseases; d) the principles of the treatment of the rheumatic diseases and of the related disability.
The student knows: a) the clinical neuroanatomy and physiopathology of the nervous system; b) neurological examination and its interpretation, instrumental diagnostic methods of neurological interest; c) the diseases of the nervous system in their epidemiological, genetic, neuropathological, pathophysiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects.
