Course syllabus
The course is divided into five meetings, organized by a professional in the field, who will address the issue of EU projects starting from an overview of the new EU programming, the tool of the Next Generation EU, and the main EU funds available, analyzing the related documents and introducing the different techniques to be adopted for the presentation of a successful project proposal, optimal management, timely reporting and careful evaluation of an EC project. More specifically, the first part of the course is aimed at offering an overview of the EC instruments available, especially the direct funds, on which the laboratory will focus more, with a brief mention of indirect funds. A limited number of EC calls and related guidelines will be examined, then we will enter into the merits of preparing a project proposal, in the second part of the course. The third part will deal with the management of an EU project, highlighting the strengths and criticalities of the project life cycle, the importance of a successful partnership, and offering some practical work tools. The fourth part of the course will focus on reporting and evaluating a community project, highlighting the main typologies in use. In the fifth and last part of the course, the students will carry out a general review and will complete an interactive workshop - activated from the first lesson - with the drafting of a short project proposal in working groups, enriched by the evaluation simulation of one short project proposal provided by the professor, and the completion of a final test, with the help of teaching materials made available by the professor.
Prerequisites for admission
Students enrolled in the "Laurea Magistrale" in International Relations (REL) and in International Sciences and European Institutions (SIE) can access the laboratory.
Teaching methods
The didactic methodology adopted is highly practical and interactive. In order to develop and consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired during the course, Q&A sessions are planned with the professor, as well as numerous discussions among students during the entire duration of the course. At the end of each lesson, the students will receive by e-mail the slides covering the session prepared by the professor who will remain available for further information. Workshops and simulations are foreseen during the lessons in which the students will have to participate.
Teaching Resources
Mainly the slides produced by the professor which also list links to various EC websites and other useful sites in the laboratory, including downloadable documents in Pdf. The professor sends additional material useful to the Lab also via email to all students.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The assessment of learning skills and knowledge takes place through the approval of a final test (to be carried out during the last class), subject to verification of mandatory attendance (at least 80% of the lessons) and participation in an interactive workshop where a complete project proposal is created for each group into which the students are divided. An oral exam at least 1week after the end of the Lab follows. Interaction during lessons is also taken into consideration.
