Learning objectives
The aim of the esercitazioni (i.e., practical classes added to the course but that do not allow to accrue ECTS), is that students acquire and develop written, oral, interaction and mediation skills, in accordance with A2/B1 levels described by the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) and its subsequent revisions and updates.
Expected learning outcomes
The expected result in terms of applied competence is the achievement of the level specified for every year for all linguistic-communicative activities: reception (listening and reading), production of written and oral texts, interaction and mediation. The entrance level is detailed in the Prerequisites, while the expected goal is detailed in the Syllabus. Students are expected to spend time on self-study to prepare for classes and to review and consolidate work done in class.

Course syllabus
The program of 'esercitazioni' course, by the mother tongue teacher, foresees immediately the practical use of the Portuguese language both in European (European variant) and American (Brazilian variant) context, favoring the conception of the Portuguese language as a multi-center language. The course will be structured in modules. At the end of the course, the student will have fully achieved the linguistic skills corresponding to level A2 of the CEFR - elementary level, and will be able to perform some functions/skills of level B1 - intermediate level.
Prerequisites for admission
None.
Teaching methods
Adopting a communicative and spiral approach, the main methods used will be the situational method and the notional-functional method. To this end, in addition to the cited textbooks that are based on a highly communicative approach, other authentic materials will be used (written and oral). This methodology will be combined with the use of more "structured" materials, through the main phonetic problems of the Portuguese language (in the two variants) will be presented. Lectures, practical activities, group work and presentations will alternate.

Course syllabus
The program of 'esercitazioni' course, by the mother tongue teacher, provides a deepening of the Portuguese language in the European variant. The course will be structured in modules. At the end of the course the student will have fully achieved the linguistic skills corresponding to the B1 level of the CEFR.
Prerequisites for admission
Practical classes will be taught entirely in Portuguese. Textbooks and activities in class or for self study assume that students already have a linguistic competence of level A2.
Teaching methods
Different teaching approaches will alternate: communicative approach, frontal lessons, tutorial approach. To this end, in addition to the cited textbooks that are based on a communicative approach, other authentic materials will be used (written and oral).
