This vocational master programme aims to train participants to become specialists in treating complex cerebrovascular diseases. The coursework is comprehensive, ranging from fundamental anatomical aspects to advanced surgical, radiosurgical and endovascular techniques. In addition to receiving in-depth theoretical training in surgical techniques, participants will engage in practical activities within multi-disciplinary teams that include specialists in surgery, radiosurgery and endovascular surgery. The programme is designed to help participants broaden their knowledge and skills, providing them with the necessary decision-making tools to identify the most suitable treatment options for aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural fistulas and cavernous angiomas.

Courses will be held at the Niguarda Hospital, which is an associate teaching hospital of the University of Milan. The programme will start in the first semester of the academic year 2025/2026 and will comprise 76 hours of face-to-face teaching (corresponding to 11 university credits, or CFU), plus 432 hours (34 CFU) of other forms of training.

Students will then have to complete a 325-hour internship (13 CFU), including 25 hours (1 CFU) of active participation in complex vascular surgery interventions. For the final exam (2 CFU), they will have to write and defend a thesis on a topic covered by the programme or explored during the internship.

The tuition fee for participants will be euro 6,516.00, including the insurance costs.
Upon completion of the programme, participants will be awarded 60 CFU.
After completing the programme, participants will be able to pursue a career in neurovascular research, as well as to work as vascular neurosurgeons in specialist hospitals and within multidisciplinary teams specialising in neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology and radiosurgery.
