Ten general principles to promote an ethical, legally-compliant and conscious use of Artificial Intelligence tools
Artificial Intelligence at the University of Milan
Artificial Intelligence, digitalisation and data governance
The University of Milan embraces the use of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies. Our most challenging goal for the period 2025-2030 is to become a truly AI-driven institution, so as to enhance our mission to create public value in an ever-evolving global landscape.
The University's AI strategy reflects a deep conviction: AI is not just a technological challenge but, more importantly, an ethical responsibility. We are committed to guiding the transformation driven by these innovative technologies by fostering education, research and cultural awareness.
Our first key action was the creation of ten principles regulating the use of AI at University. This document is called, precisely, "Governing Artificial Intelligence within the University" and lays the groundwork for planning and developing AI literacy courses for the entire academic community. We also created the StAI Academy, a hub aimed at enhancing all those AI-related knowledge and skills that a large and multidisciplinary university like the University of Milan should have.
Looking ahead, our University is committed to becoming AI-ready, simplifying and digitalising processes in compliance with data governance policies that ensure quality, security and reliability.
