Learning objectives
The workshop is for those students who have already had an exam in Linguistics. It aims at illustrating and experiencing some resources and tools available for online contemporary research concerning linguistic sciences' different fields and approaches (genealogical, geographic-areal and typological ) to be applied to the analysis of structural features and phenomena shown by languages. The workshop allows the students to acquire informatic skills and abilities that are functional to a deeper knowledge, use and search for instruments freely available for linguistics on the net, such as bibliographical repertories, scientific databases, sites of scientific societies etc.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will be able to know, describe, explain and properly use the online resources for linguistic sciences and for languages proposed by the workshop, with reference to their nature, history, aims and website's configuration. The students will show their personal and autonomous abilities in using these tools also by searching for a specific topic selected by them to represent an individual project and a personal and creative report to be illustrated and discussed at the end of the workshop.

The Laboratory "Linguistics and Languages: resources and tools on the net" aims at illustrating and experiencing some resources and tools available for online contemporary research concerning linguistic sciences' different fields and approaches (genealogical, geographic-areal and typological ) to be applied to the analysis of structural features and phenomena shown by languages. Amongs the tools and instruments freely available for linguistics on the net are bibliographical repertories, scientific databases, sites of scientific societies etc.s.
Prerequisites for admission
The laboratory is for those students who have already had a basic training in Linguistics and for those ones who have already had an exam in Linguistics and/or in Theoretical Linguistics.
Teaching methods
The Laboratory is taught by frontal lessons and by using computer and online navigation.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The Laboratory involves a written, individual project and a personal and creative report (8-10 pages) concerning a specific topic selected by the student.
