Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the basics of Didactics, Education technology and Media education with an interdisciplinary approach to the humanities and philosophical research, for training and updating activities.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, the student:
- knows the teaching methods and how use new media to innovate teaching and learning processes
- Understands the function of significant methodological reflections concerning the problems of media education, in particular the conscious use of media in schools and in society
- understands the problems related to the teaching-learning processes and the theories and solutions applied
- understands the connection between the contents and methods of philosophical research and the contents and methods of educational research
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the study path, the graduate
- can apply the knowledge about educational technologies and media education to innovate teaching processes and develop awareness of the use of the same tools.
- communicate, share and develop knowledge and skills in formal training using an appropriate lexicon
- develop independent judgment in observing the problems of education
At the end of the course, the student:

During the ongoing covid emergency, the course syllabus will be maintained with the following changes made to enhance the effectiveness of the online version of the course, which was originally designed for face-to-face teaching.

Teaching methods:
Classes will be held according to the following risk scenarios:
- maximum severity (red zone): classes will be held only remotely in synchronous mode (using MSTeams)
- high severity (orange zone): lessons will be held in mixed mode, partly in person and partly online. the face-to-face lessons will allow the participation of students connected with MSTeams as well as students in the classroom. Online lessons will be held synchronously (using MSTeams)
- severity (yellow zone): classes will be held according with the orange zone guidelines and, if conditions allow, the number of lessons on campus will be increased.
The calendar of in person lessons and updates will be published on the online course platform.
All lessons will be recorded. The recordings will be available on the online course.
Students who do not participate synchronous lessons will carry out an alternative online activity that will allow them to develop the same skills as the activity proposed in synchrinous lecture.
The schedule of lessons and all the details of the activities will be published in the online course. Any updates will also be communicated through announcements in the online course (please read often mail @studenti.unimi.it)
The methods and criteria for attending face-to-face lessons will be published in time in the online course. Booking via app is required to attend the lesson in presence
Students unable to attend face-to-face synchronous lessons, can be considered to be attending if carry out alternative online activities.
Reference materials:
Attending students must refer to all the lessons, materials and resources published in the online course, in addition to the bibliography already reported in the program
Learning verification procedures and assessment criteria:
The exam is oral and takes place in Teams (videoconferencing), according to the indications provided by the University. The online course in Moodle will make available constantly updated details about the oral examination sessions that will be held over several days.
In order to assess the autonomy of judgment in collecting and interpreting the elements useful for solving problems, the entire oral exam is carried out using the textbook (open book exam). During the oral exam, the student must therefore demonstrate that he can use the texts in the analysis of the proposed problems, as well as comment on graphs and diagrams.

Course syllabus
1. Fundamentals of didactics and teaching methodologies
Basic introduction to the fundamentals of teaching, with a specific focus on the methodologies that suit different purposes and the conditions of learning.
2. Educational and education technologies
The innovations experienced over the past 20 years will be specifically addressed, starting with the spread of new media. The didactic use of media will be analysed with regard to both presence learning and online and blended learning.
3. Media education for schools and for an inclusive society
Media education issues are presented, with particular concern to the responsible use of media in scholastic and educational contexts for the education in inclusive citizenship.
The course is open to all students of the University of Milan who are interested in learning basic theoretical concepts for providing lessons in schools and training contexts.

oral exam: The purpose of the oral exam will be to test the knowledge and skills acquired by students in light of the activities and other course topics.
