Learning objectives
The course aims to investigate the methodologies for Social History of Art, in particular the lessons will be dedicated to the themes of the history of the material conditions of the artists' work and their image in the contemporary world.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: Specific knowledge of the tradition and the contribution of the social history of art to the history of contemporary culture.
Applying knowledge and understanding: Development of a critical approach and method of analysis of the object and the artistic context starting from the moment of production, diffusion and reception

Lessons will be given primarily in presence in the classroom and in streaming on the TEAMS platform of the Course. Access registration to the classroom has to follow procedures given by the University.
Course syllabus
Part A (20 hours, 3 Ects): Italian Art's Gallery during the post-Second World War period, prof. PAOLO RUSCONI.

Teaching Unit A will deal with Italian Art Gallery during the post-Second World War period through some case studies about the issue of Art Market, the canon of artists, the visual fortune.


Part B (20 hours, 3 Ects): Social History of Art. Survey methodologies, prof. PAOLO RUSCONI, Docente a contratto

Teaching Unit B introduces to the methodologies of the Social History of Art, in particular the lessons will be dedicated to the topics related to the material conditions of the artists' work and their image in the contemporary world.



Part C (20 ore e 3 cfu; (reserved for students who attend the exam for 9 Ects):
Contract Professor
Prerequisites for admission
Good knowledge of the history of modern and contemporary art and XIX and XX Century Art Literature.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons with seminar insights. Lectures by other Professors will also integrate the course.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The oral exam consists of an interview on the program topics, aimed at ascertaining the knowledge and critical skills acquired by the learner. Any additional educational activities and exercises will be presented during the lessons.
