The vocational master in Rehabilitation Medicine for Performing Artists is organised in collaboration with Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi and provides students with expertise in rehabilitation medicine applied to the needs of professional performing artists (dancers, singers and musicians).

The programme focuses on the stress caused by the prolonged biomechanical, postural, vocal/auditory and psychological overload to which many performers are exposed in their highly competitive and diverse work environments. In particular, students will be able to: identify the determinants of physical and psychological health in performing artists, as well as potential risks for their health; learn best practices for the rehabilitation of medical conditions which are common among performing artists, and for the management of acute and chronic pain; evaluate the latest research findings in the field; identify new topics for scientific research.

The master programme will comprise 409 hours of lectures (corresponding to 41 CFU, i.e. university credits) and 91 hours of other training activities (corresponding to 8 CFU). Rounding out the programme activities are a 250 hour internship (10 CFU) and a final exam (1 CFU), for which students have to write and defend a thesis on a topic of their choice. Upon completion of the programme, students will be awarded 60 university credits (CFU).

Lectures and training activities will cover the following subjects:

Neuroscience and performing arts;
Biomechanics in performing artists;
Work-related diseases;
Instrumental diagnostics;
Interdisciplinary treatment;
Prevention.

The tuition for the programme is euro 3.254.00. The University participates in the PA 110 cum laude program of the Department of Public Administration. Discounts are available for students enrolled in the Vocational Master's programs.
