Diploma supplement

What is a Diploma Supplement and to whom is it issued

The Diploma Supplement is a supplementary document specifying the nature, level, context, content and status of your studies.

It provides those who have to evaluate your qualification, in Italy or abroad, with details of your academic path. The Diploma Supplement contains only official data, with no discretionary assessments, equivalence statements or transfer-credit suggestions.

It is issued free of charge in Italian and English, according to the template outlined by the Ministry through the Directorial Decree of 5 March 2019 (Directorate General for Students, Development and Internationalization of Higher Education).

It is provided exclusively for graduates under the systems reformed by Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and Ministerial Decree 270/2004.

How it is issued

It is issued automatically to all graduates from 2021 onwards and sent to their University e-mail address within 30 days of graduation, with the digital signature of the Head of the Student Registrar and Right to an Education Division or a delegate.

It’s possible to check the availability of the diploma supplement and download it individually through the online service in Unimia (“Career” section). The access to Unimia with the University credentials is ensured even after graduation, without any time limit.

For graduates prior to 2021, it is issued on request to be made using the InformaStudenti service

The document will be issued within 5 working days of the request.

Whether issued automatically or on request, the Diploma Supplement is in PDF/A format and digitally signed by the Head of the Student Registrar and Right to an Education Division or a delegate.

Only upon request, may it be produced on paper with handwritten signature, as specified in the request form.
