Work-based learning in the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science

Ulisse

The University of Milan, in close cooperation with Assolombarda, promoted the third edition of the Ulysses project for academic year 2017/2018.

What is it?

Starting for the 2nd or 3rd year of the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science, selected students carried out a project work at a partner company. The project work was approved and monitored by the programme teachers and it replaced one or more laboratories for the following courses (as the case may be):

  • Software Engineering;
  • Databases;
  • Operating Systems;
  • Algorithms and data structures.

Students did a curricular internship in a company, lasting 90 full-time days or 180 part-time days (depending on specific needs agreed with company representatives after the selection process).
They received a reimbursement of expenses from the company and a merit scholarship from the University.
This is an opportunity to get in touch with leading companies in Lombardy and enter a qualified labour market through a fast, preferential channel. At the end of this experience, the company may offer the intern an advanced level apprenticeship contract (Apprendistato di Alta formazione e Ricerca).

Eligible candidates were students enrolled in the second year (possibly the third year) who had earned at least 40 CFU credits based on their study plan.
