Work-based learning in the Bachelor's degree programme in Economics and Management
This project is temporarily suspended due to the covid-19 health emergency.
Work-based learning programme in cooperation with Assolombarda and COSP.
The Ulysses project aims to bring students of the Bachelor's degree programme in Economics and Management (EMA) of the University of Milan close to the corporate world.
Our focus is on "active learning", that is integrating theoretical education with case studies and lectures. More specifically, there will be company presentations in the first-year course of Business Administration and Accounting, a laboratory in the second-year course of Principles of Accounting (using the Bancopass platform), and a project work during a 6-month curricular internship in a company in the third year.
Second-year students who are up to date with their first-year studies can apply for the project.

Curricular internship in a partner company and thesis on a project work |
UNIMI - Up to € 300 per month (based on ISEE) for each month in the company + reimbursement of expenses by the host company (if any) |
- Between September and October 2019, partner companies will present their project works to students during an ad hoc meeting. The project works will also be made available to students through institutional channels (programme and COSP websites)
- After company meetings, second-year EMA students can apply through the COSP portal, expressing their interest in a project work. In order to apply, you must have passed all first-year exams. There are no average score requirements.
- Between December 2019 and January 2020, partner companies will interview students to select the internship and thesis project participants.
- In April 2020, partner companies will make their financial statements available to the selected students (possibly, there will also be meetings with individual students / small groups) and guide them through the analysis.
- The curricular internship will last 6 months, from January to June 2021, and will be part time (details to be agreed based on university workload and time). The chosen candidates will be followed in the drafting of the project work and possibly of their final paper.
Current partners include: Interlem, October, Epic, Meccanica Vimercati, Polimark, Pierre Mantoux, Reno de Medici and Rollwasch Italia. These companies will present case studies in the first-year course of Business Administration and Accounting, to help students become familiar with their businesses.
The project works may cover one of the following subjects: Business Administration and Accounting, Principles of Accounting, Marketing, Financial Markets and Institutions, Business Statistics, and Statistics for Big Data.
The internship at the partner company will last 6 months, from the beginning of the second quarter to the end of the third quarter of the second year, and students will be able to graduate in July. It will be a part-time internship, so as to allow students to attend courses in the second quarter and write their final paper in the third quarter.
The project work will be the topic of the final paper; the supervisor will be the regular teacher of the course associated with the internship and the project work.
Students interested in the Ulysses project will follow the planned course of study, with the possibility of attending case study presentations by some partner companies during the course of Business Administration and Accounting.
